Description:

The dramatic landscape of northern Scandinavia is characterized by the midnight sun, the Northern Lights, and the Saami, a nomadic tribal group that follows the migration of reindeer.  Traditional Saami jewelry incorporates elements of their northern landscape, including softened reindeer leather, braided pewter wire, and sculpted antler.  Discover this unique tradition with veteran instructor Liz Bucheit and create a beautiful bracelet in one day.

Beginning students will explore the traditional jewelry techniques of triple braiding, coiled pewter wire, and sewing the finished braid to a softened reindeer hide strip.  A reindeer button finishes off the bracelet. Students will choose from a variety of colored reindeer leather.

Maximum number of students: 12

All tools and notions for creating your bracelet will be provided, but are not included in the

price of the class.
